This was only released mid-January, around the time Qwen3-TTS was being touted as an open source ElevenLabs killer. Pocket TTS is English-only, but it works well on edge devices.


Cheap / free is my preferred way to build AI-related services.

Just because it's magical to let the machine pick how to do things, doesn't mean everyone needs to be locked in to paid ElevenLabs, Vercel and Supabase services. Or even Anthropic / OpenAI model subscription plans.
